Who has never enjoyed a well-cooked meat, right?

We can say that beef is one of the greatest preferences of the Brazilian people. No matter what cut it is, there is always a way to make the flavor unforgettable. I confess that I am a lover of grilled meat, but that Sunday roast beef at our grandparents' house marks our memories.

The importance of meat consumption.

Meat is a very important food in the human diet, mainly because it is a rich source of high-quality proteins, which contain all the essential amino acids necessary for the proper functioning of the body. These nutrients are essential for the construction and repair of tissues, the production of enzymes and hormones, and for strengthening the immune system. In addition, meat is one of the main sources of vitamin B12, an essential nutrient for the health of the nervous system and the formation of red blood cells, which is rarely found in adequate quantities in exclusively plant-based diets.

Another relevant aspect is the presence of minerals such as heme iron, zinc and selenium in meat. Heme iron, in particular, is more easily absorbed by the body compared to the iron present in vegetables, being crucial for preventing anemia and ensuring adequate oxygenation of cells. Zinc and selenium, in turn, play important roles in metabolism, immune function and protection against oxidative damage. For many people, especially those with specific nutritional needs, such as pregnant women, children and the elderly, including meat in the diet can be essential to maintain an adequate nutritional balance.

However, it is important to emphasize that meat consumption must be balanced and accompanied by other food groups, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes and grains, to ensure a complete and healthy diet. Excessive meat, especially processed meat, can be associated with health risks, such as cardiovascular disease. Therefore, the key is moderation and choosing lean cuts and healthy preparations, combining the benefits of meat with a balanced lifestyle.
